About the role We''re seeking a passionate environmental professional to lead programs and partnerships that protect and enhance Wyndham''s natural environment. In this role, you''ll drive sustainable land management initiatives, strengthen community engagement, and help deliver key environmental strategies across rural landscapes. Working closely with landholders, government agencies, and internal stakeholders, you''ll play a hands-on role in safeguarding significant ecological sites and advancing Council''s environmental objectives. What your day will look like Delivering actions from the City Forest and Habitat Strategy across rural environments. Managing the Land Protection Grant Scheme, including landholder liaison and contractor supervision. Building strong partnerships with government agencies to protect key ecological areas, including the Western Grassland Reserve. Developing and coordinating community education and engagement initiatives, including participation in Green Living Series events. Providing environmental planning and policy advice to internal and external stakeholders. Contributing to planning controls and policy development that protect significant rural ecological sites. Reviewing and shaping strategies, programs, and policies to align with community needs and Council priorities. What you will bring Degree or diploma course in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science or related environmental field with some relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience. A current driver''s licence. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic natural resource management plans. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing environmental programs including community engagement/education activities and advocacy. Knowledge of relevant State and Federal Government''s legislation as it relates to the environment and land management. Demonstrated ability to develop and lead project teams and stakeholder partnerships. . Well-developed analytical skills are required to formulate solutions and options within a broad framework. If you progress past the interview stage, you may be required to complete pre-employment screening, which may include police checks, a medical, qualification verification, and an Australian work rights check.
