The Technical Sales Manager will drive Trina Solars module business growth across Australia by combining commercial acumen with deep technical expertise. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing some key accounts, and providing technical support throughout the pre- and post-sales process. The successful candidate will engage with EPCs, developers, distributors, and utilities to promote Trina Solars photovoltaic products, ensuring optimal system performance, customer satisfaction, and alignment with market requirements. Description of Key Job Duties 1. Business Development Identify, build, and maintain longterm relationships with customers, partners, and key industry stakeholders, including EPCs, developers, IPPs, and distributors. Strategise with the Utility Sales Head to plan and implement strategic sales plans and campaigns to penetrate new market segments and expand Trina Solars footprint in Australia. Organise and participate in industry events, conferences, trade shows, and training sessions to strengthen brand awareness and promote Trina Solars products and solutions. Achieve an indepth understanding of Trina Solars module portfolio, system solutions, and technology roadmap to effectively represent the company in all customer engagements. Establish and maintain relationships with local governments, utilities, renewable energy associations, and other relevant organisations to support market development initiatives. 2. PreSales Engineering Provide technical assessments, feasibility analyses, and solution recommendations for utility scale PV system design and integration. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure proposed solutions meet customer requirements, project constraints, and Australian standards. Assist customers in module selection and layout optimisation to achieve the best balance of performance, cost, and reliability. Support the preparation of technical documentation, GA drawings, and datasheets required for tenders and project bids. 3. Technical Support for Sales Develop and maintain case studies, performance simulations, and reference projects to demonstrate Trina Solars product performance and quality. Prepare and deliver technical presentations, technical proposals, and product briefings to customers, partners, and industry forums. Conduct product and system training for EPCs, installers, and distribution partners, including updates on new technologies such as Ntype, Vertex, and bifacial modules. Provide ongoing technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including installation guidance and aftersales service coordination when required. 4. Account Management Support the tender bidding processes, ensuring accurate and compliant preparation of legal, technical, and commercial documentation. Meet or exceed assigned sales and profitability targets while maintaining high customer satisfaction. Ensure timely payment collection, monitor account status, and maintain full compliance with contractual obligations. 5. Market Awareness & Reporting Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market trends to identify opportunities and risks. Prepare regular market intelligence reports summarising key policy, regulatory, and tender developments affecting the Australian solar industry. Provide input on local pricing strategy, customer segmentation, and product positioning. Collaborate with the marketing and product management teams to share feedback from customers and field experiences. 6. Other Duties Perform other tasks as assigned by management to support overall business objectives, regional strategy execution, and customer satisfaction initiatives. Skills Requirement Education & Experience Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the solar energy, renewable energy, or related sectors with proven success in business development or technical sales. Experience in presales engineering, project development, or solutionbased sales is highly desirable. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of photovoltaic (PV) systems, equipment, and performance evaluation. Ability to provide technical assessments, interpret system specifications, and support sales from a technical perspective. Proficiency in MS Office, CRM systems, and PV design tools (e.g., PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope) preferred. Commercial Skills Strong business acumen and ability to identify and develop market opportunities. Proven skills in negotiation, tender preparation, contract management, and project coordination. Experience in managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to contract closure. Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (verbal and written). Strong interpersonal and networking skills to engage effectively with customers and stakeholders. Teamoriented, with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision. Other Requirements Willingness to travel frequently for customer meetings, site visits, and industry events. Fluency in English is mandatory; additional regional languages are a plus.
