Our role is simple but powerful: to enable clinicians to focus on delivering exceptional patient care, while we provide the operational, commercial, and strategic support that helps practices thrive.As we continue to grow, we''re looking for a commercially minded Legal Counsel to join our inhouse legal team and partner closely with the business.Job DescriptionAs Legal Counsel, you will provide practical, commercially balanced legal advice across Abano''s Australian and New Zealand operations. This is a broad, handson role where you''ll work closely with senior leaders and functional teams to manage risk, enable growth, and support daytoday operations.Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you will build trusted relationships with the Executive Leadership Team, Regional Operations Managers, and corporate support functions.Key areas of responsibility include:Advising on operational matters across the ANZ businessDrafting, reviewing, and negotiating clinician and commercial contracts (including government contracts)Supporting M&A activity, joint ventures, and other commercial transactionsManaging disputes, complaints, and regulatory mattersAdvising on privacy, compliance, and legal risk managementReviewing marketing materials and advising on competition and consumer law issuesQualifications and ExperienceYou are a confident, pragmatic lawyer who enjoys working in a fastpaced, commercially driven environment and partnering with the business to find solutions.You''ll bring:58 years'' postqualification experience, gained in a top or midtier firm or a strong inhouse legal teamProven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contractsExposure to healthcare, services, or regulated environments (highly regarded)A sound understanding of Australian and/or New Zealand privacy law principlesExperience with disputes, complaints handling, and regulatory mattersExposure to M&A or joint ventures (preferred)Strong communication skills and sound commercial judgementAdditional QualificationsBachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalentAdmission to practice in Australia or another relevant jurisdiction (Admission in New Zealand will be supported where required)Why Join Abano?Be part of a marketleading, purposedriven organisationWork on highimpact matters across Australia and New ZealandCollaborate with experienced leaders and a supportive legal teamCompetitive salary and genuine career development opportunitiesReady to make a difference?
