With a long history of technical excellence and large-scale project delivery, the organisation is recognised for its commitment to safety, innovation, and reliable service.Operating in a complex and evolving environment, the company continues to invest in transformative infrastructure that connects communities, drives economic growth, and supports Australia''s renewable energy ambitions.The RoleAs a result of an increased pipeline of projects, our client is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its dynamic and high-performing legal team, in a rare in-house construction delivery/disputes role.Primarily a back-end construction role, this role will see you involved in project delivery, procurement and advising senior management on disputes avoidance and claims management in both the upstream and downstream phases of the team''s projects. You will be responsible for governance and compliance, advising on risk, devising defence strategies and negotiating with external parties.This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced construction litigator to work on high-profile infrastructure projects. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be involved in:project management of dispute avoidance and dispute resolution processes;assisting in the management of upstream and downstream disputes;assisting with strategies and negotiation in respect of disputes;supporting Senior Project Lawyers in contract management;drafting and reviewing variations, EOT claims and legal/commercial correspondence;liaising with key stakeholders within the legal and commercial team and the broader business; andinstructing and assisting external law firms with information requests and ad-hoc instructions.The CandidateThe ideal lawyer for this role will have at least 8 PQE, with experience in construction disputes in an infrastructure environment at a well-regarded law firm or similar in-house role.
