The primary purpose of this role is to handle claims on policies that have been underwritten by Antipodean Underwriting.This includes (but is not limited to) tasks such as entering new claim data into claims and various other systems required to track claims, reviewing policy documents, handling broker, accounting or policies queries and working with underwriters to review renewal and new business submissions.Your ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities in the role will include, but will not be limited to the following:To handle a high volume workload of claimsTo conduct coverage inquiries and make determinations as to indemnityTo notify brokers of indemnity decisionsTo appoint external service providers, including lawyers to represent policyholdersTo liaise with brokers to resolve queries regarding claims and to ensure these are registered in a timely mannerTo prepare claims files for both Renewal and New Business (including inputting data into the Claims system)To liaise with brokers and internal departments for credit control, claims and risk informationChasing brokers for outstanding binding instructions or other information that is required to make an indemnity decisionTo review policy documents produced by the Underwriting TeamCreation of ad hoc documentsTo assist with the reconciliation of aged finance itemsEnsure claims files are complete and fulfill audit requirementsTo ensure policy tracking/workflow tools are accurate and reflect current status of policy at all timesAny other ad hoc duties allocated by the Claims TeamQuality AdherenceBuild good working relationships with local underwriting teams and ensure that the Underwriting Team are regularly communicated with and kept updated on appropriate issues.Build good working relationships with third party providers, lawyers and external stakeholders.Proactively monitor and support the completion of outsourced processes, ensuring agreed service standards and quality levels are met.To support the Underwriting Team through liaison with and participation at meetings with brokers, internal departments and external advisers.To provide general assistance to underwriters for broker and/or client visits and other administrative duties as agreed with the Underwriting Team.To independently handle requests and queries from customers where appropriate coordinate with appropriate departments and staff to resolve first level customer complaints.To adhere to robust Quality Framework standards and procedures.To ensure that the business meets its customer service standards under the General Insurance Industry Code of Practice.RequirementsThe following Selection Criteria must be addressed in your covering letter.Your Skills & Experience:High School CertificateLaw degree or equivalentCompetency in Microsoft Office and OutlookTyping speed of at least 35 words per minutePunctualityEffective communication and interpersonal skills both in verbal and written formsStrong customer service skills and customer centric attitudeStrong attention to detail and the desire to deliver and improve qualityProblem resolution and decision making skillsAbility to work in a team environment as well as on own initiativeExperience working to deadlinesPro-active involvement with business objectives & service levelA collegial and constructive approach to working with and supporting colleagues within a team environmentWell-developed analytical and organisational skillsDiploma of Financial ServicesExperience working in a Claims Role at another insurer or underwriting agencyExperience practicing lawBenefits of Working with Antipodean UnderwritingAntipodean Underwriting offers an attractive workplace in a desirable location.
