Job Description - Senior Operational Governance Officer (0000B5LT)Senior Operational Governance Officer - 0000B5LTAt the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.Full time ongoing opportunityLocated in Parramatta with flexible working arrangements availableSalary ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 p.a. plus super and annual leave loadingAbout the roleThe Senior Operational Governance Officer plays a key role in this newly created team, supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of department-wide operational governance controls, ensuring alignment with legislative and policy requirements.The role drives continuous improvement and promotes good governance across operational areas.Key challenges include staying current with best practice governance controls, embedding improvements, identifying and communicating governance requirements across a large and diverse organisation, and influencing cultural change to foster ownership of governance within business units.For further information please click here to view the role description.About youExperienced in developing, implementing, and monitoring operational governance controls, including delegations, in large or complex organisations.Strong knowledge of legislative, policy, and compliance requirements, with the ability to provide advice and guidance to business units on governance matters.Skilled in managing governance processes and tools, including registers, compliance attestations, and risk assessment initiatives, ensuring accuracy and transparency.Able to influence cultural change, embed continuous improvement, and foster ownership of governance across diverse teams.Effective communicator capable of preparing high-quality reports, briefings, and presentations for senior executives and external stakeholders, while building collaborative relationships internally and externally.Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Public Administration or a related field and/or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.Competitive salary, salary sacrificing, employer''s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.Flex Leave entitlements, generous holidays & leave conditions.Opportunities for advancement and mobility across the Department to support your career growth.How to applyAttach a resume (maximum 5 pages) and a cover letter (maximum 2 pages) outlining how you meet the requirements and capabilities of this role.Applicants are encouraged to prepare their application materials independently.
