Join to apply for the Associate Artistic Director role at Griffin Theatre Company. Griffin is a creative hub for the development and production of Australian playwriting. Each year we produce four to six mainseason works, alongside coproductions and touring new Australian work regionally and interstate. Most of those works are new Australian plays, but occasionally we revive works from the canon of Australian theatre. Our annual season also includes the Griffin Lookout program, through which we platform the next generation of Sydney''s most exceptional independent theatremakers providing space, producing support, and a cash stipend. Behind the scenes each year we develop the artists and new plays that will feature in our annual season over years to come. We run a number of wellrecognised artist development programmes that touch on three key considerations: access, ecology and pipeline of new work. Role Description Griffins Associate Artistic Director is a key artistic leadership role within the company. The position is supported by the Griffin Womens Initiative, established in 2019 by former Artistic Director Lee Lewis to support the recruitment of a femaleidentifying Associate Artistic Director. The role was designed to carve out viable pathways for early and midcareer femaleidentifying directors to develop the skills, confidence and professional relationships necessary to achieve a substantial career in artistic leadership, while also building a body of work in mainstage theatre. The Associate Artistic Director reports to the Artistic Director and works closely with the Executive team (Artistic Director, Executive Director and General Manager). Selection Criteria Creativity A successful track record in the performing arts Creative skills in direction, casting and dramaturgy or another creative leadership role Experience producing or programming for contemporary theatre Experience in assessing and developing new work Experience collaborating with a broad range of artists A passion for Australian stories and a proven interest in taking them to the stage Personal Style Successful experience working in a small team Evidence of collaboration and cooperation in an administrative as well as a creative environment Understanding of the challenges facing a small, tightly resourced company (including the ability to juggle and manage competing demands) Willingness to go the extra mile Application Requirements Applicants should submit the following: A written application (no more than 3 pages) or video (no more than 5 minutes) addressing the Selection Criteria A current CV and contact details of 3 referees.
