The School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation is based at the UTS facility in the Rugby Australia Building at Moore Park, where this position is located. This state-of-the-art centre, a first in the country, combines university programs with a premier sporting precinct.About the RoleThe Technical Officer is responsible for the preparation, maintenance and calibration of specialised equipment as well as service provision in the daily operations of the School of Sport, Exercise, and Rehabilitation (SoSER) teaching and research spaces located at Moore Park. The role will involve providing high quality technical support to the teaching and research activities within the School. Additionally, this position will involve work to assist in the successful uptake of new technologies and is responsible for supporting academic and professional staff with innovative, creative solutions to enhance teaching and learning practices in the Faculty of Health in line with UTS 2027 strategy.If successful in applying for this role, you will be responsible for: Collaborating with the SoSER Laboratory Services Manager to support academic staff with setup, pack-down, and maintenance of laboratory spaces and complex equipment for teaching and research. Collaborating on the design and development of standardised procedures and policy with regard to both the internal and external use of SoSER laboratories and equipment. Managing a laboratory and equipment booking system, assist with consumable stock control, and ensure routine maintenance and safety inspections are performed and documented. Designing and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for teaching and research activities. Assisting in planning and setting up laboratory sessions and research activities, providing specialist advice, training, and support to colleagues and students. Ensuring laboratory spaces and equipment comply with relevant legislation and regulations, including coordinating training for staff and students and liaising with maintenance contractors. Collaborating with UTS ITD/AVS staff to provide efficient and effective support for the IT/AV requirements of the School under the broad direction of the SoSER Lab Services Manager, SoSER School Manager and the Head of School.With examples, please outline within your Cover Letter, how you meet the following key selection criteria: 1. Demonstrated ability to prioritise, plan and organise work within required tight timeframes.2. Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for outcomes, be innovative, work independently and as part of a team, including the ability to respond to changing circumstances and critical situations.3. Demonstrated extensive experience in the maintenance of scientific teaching and research equipment with respect to operation, calibration and trouble-shooting.4. Demonstrated ability to apply high level diagnostic skills to assist in solving complex technical problems.5. Demonstrated extensive experience of providing specialised technical services in human performance teaching/research laboratories (ie.
