Located at the Engineering Link Building (J13) on the Darlington Campus Provide end-to-end technical support in lab and field settings, ensuring smooth operations, quality data collection, and strict WHS complianceBase Salary HEO6, $103,185 - $111,237 p.a. + 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe University of Sydney is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Technical Officer to join our team as a Research and Teaching Assistant in the field of Wireless Communications and Electronic Engineering. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and hands-on experience in wireless systems, digital signal processing, and embedded system design, as well as demonstrated ability to support both teaching and research activities.Your key responsibilities will be to:provide technical support and research assistance to staff, students, researchers, and other technical staff in the laboratoryprepare the laboratory for experiments, practical, and tutorials in accordance with scientific protocolsanalyse qualitative and quantitative tests by recording and computing relevant data following analytical tests and investigative taskstrain staff, visitors, and students in the safe operation of laboratory equipmentcoordinate and/or prepare diverse scientific documentation and applications, including the collection and analysis of datamanage the inventory and purchase of laboratory consumables, including supplies for classes and practicalsperform simulations, algorithm development, and hardware testingcollaborate with faculty on ongoing research projects in wireless communication and electronic systems.About youmaster''s degree or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or electronics, or a related fieldability to communicate effectivelystrong attention to detail coupled with excellent communication skillssolid understanding of wireless communication systems, digital signal processing, and embedded systemsdemonstrated computer literacy skills along with ability to work in a team environmenthands-on experience with tools and programming languages such as MATLAB / Simulink, C/C++, VHDL/Verilogpreferred qualifications: experience with FPGA-based development and RF systems; familiarity with software-defined radio (SDR) platformsdemonstrated experience in a similar role in a laboratory environment.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaYou must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.
