Become a pivotal member of a highly regarded in-house legal teamAdvance your career in financial services, insurance services and corporate and commercial practiceJoin and contribute to a global market leaderAon is recruiting a Senior Corporate Counsel, Commercial Law to join our team in Australia.The Australian Commercial Law team is responsible for providing advice and in relation to a wide range of corporate, commercial and financial services law matters across all of Aon Australia''s solution lines.Senior Corporate Counsel, CommercialWe are seeking a talented individual to join Aon''s legal team based in Sydney - as a Senior Corporate Counsel, Commercial, reporting to the Chief Counsel, Australia.The Senior Corporate Counsel, Commercial leads the provision of strategic and commercial legal advice to the business involving a wide range of commercial, corporate and financial services matters.The Law Division''s focus is to protect the Aon Group''s commercial interests, ensuring that its legal affairs are effectively managed through the provision of optimal legal services, guidance and advice.Aon is in the business of better decisionsAt Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world.As an organization, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.What Your Day Will Look LikeProvide leadership to the Australian Commercial Law team who are responsible for the delivery of high quality, timely and commercial legal services to the Australian business.Work collaboratively with the APAC L&C team and key business leaders to identify, reduce and mitigate legal risks that may impact the business, interests or reputation of any Aon Group Company.Negotiation of a range of complex commercial agreements consistent with Aon Group''s risk profile.Collaborate to solve unique and complex legal questions calling for conceptual and innovative thinking and problem solving.Drive the commercial legal response to a range of special projects, initiatives, service offerings and operational matters.Advise on diverse legal matters including financial services law, general commercial and insurance related matters, commercial arrangements, mergers and acquisitions, privacy law and intellectual property. We encourage and support you to expand your knowledge and grow alongside some of the best people in the business in Australia and throughout our connected global networks.Skills And Experience That Will Lead To Success10+ years post-qualification experience in private practice and/or with an in-house legal team.Previous relevant corporate and commercial experience, general insurance law and financial services sector experience is required.Highly proficient in balancing corporate risk with commercial awareness and opportunity. Strong analytic skills, including the ability to identify and analyse legal issues, risks and solutions.Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with an eye for detail. Proactively manage and mentor a high performing team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate ideas to sophisticated internal stakeholders together with ability to influence and negotiate effectively.Ability to work efficiently and accurately and manage multiple engagements, processes and competing priorities.
