Junior Lawyer | In-house About the RoleAre you a junior lawyer or earlycareer legal professional with an interest in construction, infrastructure, and commercial law? We are seeking a motivated Junior Lawyer to join our team and support our inhouse General Counsel across a broad range of legal and commercial matters.This role offers handson exposure to live projects, stakeholder engagement, and realworld commercial decisionmaking within a highperforming, collaborative team. It is well suited to a graduate lawyer or lawyer with up to 23 years'' experience looking to build a strong foundation in inhouse practice.Key ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with the General Counsel, Legal, Commercial, and Project teams, your responsibilities will include:Reviewing, drafting, and amending a range of commercial contracts, including client agreements, supplier and subcontractor contracts, variations, and rate increase correspondence.Supporting RFQs, tenders, and subcontractor engagement from a legal and commercial perspective.Assisting with contract interpretation, risk identification, and compliance with contractual and legal obligations.Maintaining legal, contract, and commercial registers and records.Supporting project teams with variation management, commercial correspondence, and dispute prevention.Providing legal and secretariat support to the General Counsel, including preparation of meeting agendas, minutes, reports, and correspondence.Assisting with internal governance, policies, and compliance requirements.This is a practical, development-focused role with exposure across the full lifecycle of projects.What We OfferStrong career development opportunities supported by an exciting pipeline of local and international projects.Exposure to largescale infrastructure and engineering projects while working within a closeknit, highperforming team.Learning and development opportunities through emerging talent programs, clear career pathways, and access to technical and leadership training across the broader group.Recognition as a Smart50 awarded business for Diversity & Inclusion Wellbeing support, including access to free confidential counselling for you and your immediate family.About YouYou will ideally bring:A law degree and admission (or eligibility for admission) as a lawyer in Australia.Up to 23 years'' experience in commercial, construction, or corporate law (inhouse or private practice), or a strong graduate foundation.Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously.Clear written and verbal communication skills, with confidence working with internal stakeholders.A proactive, adaptable mindset and willingness to learn in a fastpaced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with contract or project management systems is advantageous.Highly RegardedExperience or exposure to construction, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.Interest in developing a longterm inhouse legal career within a commercial, projectdriven environment.An understanding of risk management and commercial decisionmaking.About UsCJC Commercial (CJC) is a leading team of specialists delivering expert civil and structural engineering solutions with global project experience.
