Senior Lawyer - Regulation and Compliance team at the Office of theRegistrar General Grade: Clerk Grade 9/10Salary range: $129,464 - $142,665 + superannuation and leave loadingDuration: 12 months, Full timeLocation:Sydney, McKell Building The team landingday is Tuesday (attendance 2 days a week, increasing to 3 days)About the teamWe have an opportunity for aSenior Lawyer to join our Regulation and Compliance team at the Office of theRegistrar General for a 12-month period. The Regulation and Compliance teamundertakes legal, regulatory and governance work in relation to the Land andProperty Information (LPI) concession and eConveyancing legal framework. Theteam includes legal, compliance and IT specialists to ensure effectiveoversight of the private operator of the LPI concession and eConveyancingoperators and customers. The team also provides legal, policy and governanceadvice and support to the senior executive and other teams within ORG.Reporting to the Managing LawyerCommercial, the Senior Lawyer will join a friendly team in a fast-pacedenvironment. They will work independently and collaboratively to deliver highquality legal advice, identify and resolve complex legal and regulatorymatters, as well as build and maintain relationships with keystakeholders.The right applicant will be ateam player, willing to develop skills in new legal areas, comfortable withambiguity, and someone who enjoys working with others to develop innovativesolutions.About you To be successful in this role you will beadmitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of NSW, hold a currentpractising certificate and have at least 3 years'' post qualificationexperience. Ideally, you will have relevant experience in government and/orcommercial legal roles.You will have experience handling complexmatters with multiple stakeholders. You will be an experienced drafter,negotiator and communicator, with advanced written and verbal communicationskills, able to convey complex concepts clearly and succinctly. You are a resourceful person with aproactive working style, who is able to work autonomously and part of a team.ORG is looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of developing practicalsolutions to complex problems in a customer-centric environment. You enjoy working and collaborating as partof a hard-working and friendly team, including mentoring and developing juniorlegal staff.Your day-to-dayThekey accountabilities include: preparing analyses on complex legal and regulatory matters and undertaking associated researchproviding frank and fearless legal and/or policy advice, supported by evidence preparing briefs to the executive and Minister''s office on matters relating to, for example, the regulation of the land registry Concession and electronic conveyancingpreparing various other documents for a range of audiencesdelegating to and working with more junior staff professionally representing the Office of the Registrar General at various forums; both internal and external to the Department.Tobe successful in this role you will demonstrate:experience providing practical legal advice and performing generalist legal tasksexcellent research, drafting, and academic skills.rigorous project management skills, to set priorities, manage multiple stakeholders and deliver work within set timeframesworking knowledge of digital reforms or ability to acquire a working knowledge rapidlystrong communication and negotiation skillsthe ability to work with a high level of autonomy yet also in a team.Tobe successful in this role you must be admitted as a legal practitioner of theSupreme Court of NSW, have at least 3 years'' post admission experience, andhold a current practising certificate.What we need from youPleasesubmit your resume of no more than 5 pages, including a cover letter of no morethan 2 pages, sharing your motivation for applying for the position anddemonstrating your capability and relevant skills.Click Here to access the Role Description.
