OzChild is looking for a Registered Psychiatrist to join their Multisystemic Therapy Team for Child Abuse and Neglect (MST-CAN) based in Campbelltown, NSW.About OzChildFor over 170 years, OzChild has been committed to the protection of Australia''s most vulnerable children and families. Our purpose is to support vulnerable children and young people by preventing abuse and neglect, providing healing and strengthening families.The purpose of the position is to support the MST-CAN team by providing quality psychiatric services in the home, the community, and/or by tele-psychiatry, and provide input into thorough assessment, case planning and provision of evidence-based treatment in coordination with other clinical stakeholders where children are at imminent risk of removal. As specified by the requirements set out in the MSTi License this support will be provided under the supervision of the MST- CAN Supervisor and MST-CAN Consultant.MST-CAN is an internationally recognized program for families who have come to the attention of child protection services due to physical abuse and/or neglect. Designed to treat 6-17 year-olds and their families and is proven to keep them together, ensure children and young people are safe, prevent abuse and neglect, reduce mental health difficulties experienced by adults and children and increase natural social supports to reduce risk of entering out-of-home care.Position Specific Responsibilities:Provides psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members, as indicated.Has on-going interface with the MST-CAN treatment team concerning psychiatric and medical diagnoses that pertain to child and adult family members.Acts as a community liaison with outside physicians/psychiatrists concerning medical or psychiatric care of child and adult family members.Provides the team with emergency psychiatric evaluations of child and adult family members as needed in the office, the community, and/or by tele-psychiatry.Has a close on-going collaboration with inpatient physicians and clinical team when MST-CAN child or adult family members are admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Works to develop and maintain a collaborative relationship with the physicians and staff of local psychiatric inpatient unit(s) and other residential treatment facilities as needed.Coordinates all psychopharmacological interventions with family members.Keeps thorough notes of MST-CAN Psychiatric Consultation so these can be included in the client''s chart.Works with the MST-CAN supervisor to modify and implement safety protocols and documentation.Attends MST-CAN group supervision weekly and/or as required.Works with the MST-CAN Supervisor to develop and implement evidence-based psychiatric and psychopharmacologic treatment protocols.Essential qualifications:A Medical Degree (MD) with licensure/board certification as a child and/or adult psychiatrist that is recognised in Australia.Knowledge and demonstrated experience using evidence based clinical practices and their application to treat families.Screening and Licences:OzChild conduct interviews, reference checks and ensure the completion of satisfactory safety screening including National / International Police Check and Working with Children Checks relevant to the State or Territory that employment and undertaking of position occurs.Must be able to drive, provide and maintain a valid Drivers'' Licence.Skills and Experience:Experience with families in the child welfare systemBackground in child and adult psychiatryExperience with child protection and court systemsAbility to work as a team memberManagement of suicidal or homicidal threats and family safety risksFamily systems therapyChild developmentA working understanding of the culture and strengths of families within the MST-CAN populationA thorough understanding of mandated abuse reporting lawsExperience working with persons from Aboriginal and CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) backgroundsWhat we offer:Our promise to you is to provide you with opportunity; opportunity to be part of a team that sets one another up for success; opportunity to thrive in your career; opportunity to make a difference to children''s lives; and opportunity to be part of positive change to the sector.Permanent part time 7.6 hours per week$1750 - $ 1900 per week , plus super & salary packaging - weekly earnings ( neg upon experience )Flexible working arrangementsTraining and skills developmentAbove Award SalaryFriendly and supportive work environmentBe part of an innovative care service to children, young people, and familiesInternationally acclaimed program (MST-CAN)HOW TO APPLY:You can apply for the role today by clicking the APPLY NOW button above.
