Part-time (0.20 FTE) continuing role at Westmead and Sydney Dental Hospital Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Dentistry - Restorative and Reconstructive Dentistry education Base Salary ( Level B) $127,436 (Level C) $156,103 (pro-rata 0.20 FTE) + 17% superannuation + dental loading (pro-rata 0.20 FTE)About the opportunityThe University of Sydney School of Dentistry (Sydney Dental School) is ranked amongst the top dental schools internationally and is one of the largest dental schools in Australia. It has campuses in the Sydney Dental Hospital (in inner-eastern Sydney), the Westmead Centre for Oral Health at Westmead Hospital (in western Sydney), the Nepean Centre for Oral Health and outreach service-based teaching is undertaken across the state of NSW.We are seeking an experienced Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Tooth Conservation to deliver Restorative and Reconstructive Dentistry education at the Sydney Dental SchoolYour key responsibilities will be to: undertake independent teaching and assessment across Restorative and Reconstructive Dentistry, with a particular focus on supporting and delivering the cariology unit of study and other DOH units design and deliver highquality learning experiences that meet the University''s standards for contemporary, evidencebased dental education develop, review and innovate teaching approaches, ensuring continuous improvement through student feedback, pedagogical best practice and alignment with accreditation standards contribute to clinical teaching and supervision that supports the development of safe, competent and practiceready dental practitioners coordinate teaching teams and academic staff activities, providing mentorship, guidance and support to earlycareer educators and sessional academics undertake academic administration associated with units of study, assessment, quality assurance and student progression contribute actively to school and faculty committees, working groups and meetings, supporting a positive, collaborative and studentcentred culture apply scholarly activity to enhance curriculum design, assessment strategy and teaching practice build professional engagement through participation in continuing education, seminars, clinical networks and community or outreach activities contribute to initiatives that strengthen the School''s clinical education footprint across the Sydney Dental Hospital network and NSW outreach locations undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate to the role and classification level.Additional Level C Responsibilities (Leadership in Education) provide leadership in curriculum design, review and renewal, ensuring educational alignment across the Restorative and Reconstructive Dentistry learning stream lead teaching teams to deliver consistent, highquality student learning experiences design and deliver multidisciplinary and workintegrated learning experiences that support authentic clinical readiness supervise honours and higherdegree research students where appropriate apply advanced pedagogical knowledge to drive innovation in assessment, technologyenhanced learning and clinical teaching models play a key role in advancing the School and Faculty educational strategy, contributing to accreditation processes, strategic initiatives and quality improvement engage professionally beyond the University to strengthen the School''s profile through conferences, seminars, continuing education and stakeholder engagementAbout you AHPRA registration as a general dentist a bachelor degree in dentistry and postgraduate qualifications in dentistry and/or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience PhD in a relevant discipline (desirable for Level B; essential for Level C) extensive clinical experience in tooth conservation, oral medicine, oral pathology and/or general dental practice, with experience across preclinical and clinical teaching settings demonstrated success delivering highquality teaching across a broad range of subjectsincluding oral pathology, oral medicine, cariology, oral biology, evidencebased practice and infection controlusing lectures, workshops, case-based learning, PBL, tutorials, seminars and practical classes proven experience coordinating subjects and courses, including curriculum design, development and review for dental and oral health programs strong capability in assessment design, preparation, marking and providing constructive feedback across multiple units of study demonstrated experience supervising dental students in preclinical and/or clinical environments and contributing to a safe, supportive student learning experience experience managing and mentoring casual academic staff a developing network of academic, industry and professional relationships, supported by active engagement with professional bodies a developing scholarly or research profile supported by publications, supervision, conference participation or scholarly activity that informs teaching practice demonstrated ability to contribute to teaching innovation, including implementation of Outcome-Based Education, Problem-Based Learning and evidenceinformed curriculum improvements demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives with a clinical and patientcare focus ability to work collaboratively, contribute to a positive academic culture and engage constructively with stakeholders across multiple clinical teaching sitesAdditional requirements for Level C PhD in a relevant discipline demonstrated depth of subject-matter expertise within restorative and reconstructive dentistry/cariology or aligned disciplines substantial experience in teaching and learning, evidenced by teamteaching, course coordination and delivery across diverse educational settings experience supervising, mentoring or leading others within academic or clinical education contexts demonstrated leadership in curriculum design, pedagogical innovation and evaluation of teaching and learning initiatives a welldeveloped network of relationships with key academic, professional, clinical and industry partners experience presenting, coordinating and contributing to professional, educational or scholarly activities at discipline, faculty, institutional or sector levelSponsorship / work rights for AustraliaYou must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.
