The Opportunity The Criminal Law Practice Division is seeking experienced criminal lawyers to join their established and supportive Major Indictable teams. Working from Adelaide or a suburban office, the Lawyer or Senior Lawyer will manage a diverse criminal law practice across all South Australian criminal courts. They will conduct counsel work on their own files, including bail applications, pre-trial conferences, sentencing hearings, and trials, and may also engage in Supreme Court practice through bail reviews, High Risk Offender applications, and appeals. As a key member of the team, you will support colleagues by assisting with hearings and tasks, including short-notice appearances such as bench warrants and Duty Lawyer shifts. You will work collaboratively with more senior lawyers on complex matters, including Supreme Court trials and appeals, and may also contribute to specialised court programs such as Diversion Courts or outreach services. Total Indicative Remuneration Package LSC2 Lawyer: $98,332 - $105,503 per annum pro rata including salary, superannuation and leave loading.LSC3 Senior Lawyer: $115,069 - $126,439 per annum pro rata including salary, superannuation and leave loading. As a not-for-profit organisation, Legal Services is able to offer its employees attractive salary sacrifice arrangements, including up to $15,900 pre-tax Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) year for general living expenses. Term of Employment Appointment will be made at either the LSC2 or LSC3 classification level dependent on experience. 12-24 month Temporary Contracts available. What You Need for Success The ideal candidate will: Hold an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate or currently eligible to apply for an unrestricted Category C Practising Certificate. Be an admitted practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia and High Court of Australia. Be appointed to the Legal Services General Panel of Practitioners or be eligible for appointment. Relate well to members of the public and staff by engendering trust, confidence, openness and frankness. Confidently provide concise legal advice by assessing problems logically, thoroughly and reliably with due skill and diligence. Possess a broad knowledge of governmental and private agencies in the social welfare and justice system. LSC2: Possess a minimum of 2 years post admission legal experience. LSC2: Possess experience in the criminal justice system in South Australia as both solicitor and counsel. LSC3: Possess a minimum of 5 years post admission legal experience. LSC3: Possess significant experience in the criminal justice system in South Australia, including as an advocate in both the superior and summary criminal courts.
