Head of Remuneration and Benefits

About The Role: OneSteel Manufacturing is transforming one of Australias most iconic industrial operations. As we reshape our future workforce and operating model, this newly elevated role will lead the strategic design, governance and ongoing improvement of our remuneration and benefits frameworks across thousands of employees. Reporting to the General Manager Human Resources, you will be the organisations specialist in total rewards, job architecture and remuneration governance. You will influence executive and senior leaders, modernise our remuneration practices, and ensure our frameworks are fair, competitive and aligned to organisational goals. This newly created position is a highly visible role that combines strategy, governance, analytics and advisory capability, ideal for a seasoned remuneration specialist ready to lead meaningful change at scale. Key Responsibilities: Lead the organisationwide remuneration, benefits, incentives and total rewards strategy Design and govern remuneration frameworks, policies and enterprisewide job architecture Oversee benchmarking, job evaluation and salary review processes Provide expert advice to executives on remuneration philosophy, internal equity and market competitiveness Ensure remuneration practices comply with Australian legislation, Fair Work, industrial instruments and organisational policy Lead modelling, analysis and workforce costing to support organisation design and workforce planning Partner closely with HR, Finance, Payroll, Operations and senior leaders to ensure clarity and consistency Manage external remuneration vendors, benchmarking providers and benefits partners Strengthen HRIS and reporting capability relating to remuneration data integrity, analytics and audit readiness Lead ongoing improvements to remuneration tools, communication materials and leadership capability Drive continuous improvement, governance and change management relating to reward and recognition frameworks About You: You are an experienced remuneration and benefits leader with strong commercial judgement, analytical depth and a passion for building clarity in complex environments. You influence confidently at executive level and enjoy shaping frameworks that drive fairness, performance and organisational alignment. Minimum 7 years experience in remuneration, benefits or related HR advisory roles, ideally within heavy industry, mining, resources or large complex organisations Strong expertise in job evaluation methodologies (e.g., NRG, Korn Ferry, Mercer, Hays) Deep understanding of Australian industrial relations systems, Enterprise Agreements, Award interpretation and remuneration compliance Experience designing and governing STIP or incentive programs Excellent communication skills, including preparing executive papers and leader guides High integrity, strong stakeholder influence and the ability to drive change across varied environments About Us: OneSteel Manufacturing operates an endtoend mining and steel business, bringing together critical iron ore operations and Australias only specialgrade billet and long product capability, to supply the infrastructure that keeps the country moving.Supported by State and Federal Government investment, these assets form a core part of Australias sovereign manufacturing security.
