EL 2 Senior Lawyer (Insolvency)

The Role Our client a highly regarded Commonwealth Authority is seeking an experienced EL 2 Insolvency Lawyer to provide advice around insolvency law and commercial and/or property law. The position will provide Legal advice and assistance in the administration of bankrupt estates, insolvency arrangements and debt agreements. The Responsibilities The position will report to the Deputy General Counsel and will have a primary focus of: managing a small team of lawyers to advise and assist the team in administering bankrupt estates (personal insolvency); providing advice and assistance to case managers in administering bankrupt estates, interpretation of the Bankruptcy Act and manage litigation; providing advice on property disputes and leasing arrangements; briefing external legal panel firms to represent to the team in court matters; assisting the team in the lodgement of caveats and developing streamlined practices to improve efficiencies; providing legal training and support for the teams case managers and to increase capability of the Authoritys Legal lawyers; and identify and develop practices that would improve efficiencies for both the team and the Authoritys Legal team, including the development of standing instructions and SOPs. The Requirements A current practising certificate (or the ability to obtain one) and experience advising on Commonwealth bankruptcy law and insolvency law is essential.
