Moira promotes a workplace that includes and values all people and encourages people with a disability, Aboriginal Australians, young people and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.DescriptionKey Responsibilities And FunctionsRoads MaintenanceOperate road graders and/or tractor and roller combination units to perform construction and maintenance activities.Operate loaders, backhoes, trucks, mowers, and minor plant equipment to deliver Councils maintenance and construction programs, as licensed.Operate horizontal discharge patrol truck and associated equipment including emulsion sprayer.General labouring duties associated with parks and roads maintenance and construction such as road dig outs, patching and potholing, roadside spraying and vegetation removal, and repair/installation of culverts, road signs and guideposts, as directed.Ensure OHS responsibilities are met, adhere to policies and procedures, and ensure safe work practices, including installing and monitoring warning signs, safety lights, barricades and other traffic management works.Carry out daily routine inspections, maintenance and minor repairs on assigned plant and equipment and report faults.Accurately record daily work activities and submit to coordinator.General DutiesParticipate in knowledge and skill development programs as directed.Maintain strict confidentiality in matters affecting Councils negotiating ability with suppliers/contractors.Project a positive and professional image of the Shire and maintain good community relations.Participate in Councils after-hours emergency call-out roster.For more information about the role view the Position Description HERE (if hyperlink is not working, click "Apply" to view it).Skills and ExperiencesTo apply for this role, please include a cover letter addressing the following Key Selection Criteria:Cert III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) or proven experience in road construction.Current heavy rigid vehicle licence, with the ability to complete a verification of competency in one of the following tickets: Grader; Wheeled Front End Loader; Roller Operations; Backhoe/Loader Operations; Skid Steer Operations.OHS, First Aid, and relevant plant competency certificates.Experience in basic road and drainage construction & maintenance work.Ability to undertake minor maintenance/repairs to equipment.Understanding and commitment to OHS practices - relevant OHS cards.Seniority levelEntry levelEmployment typeTemporaryJob functionManagement and ManufacturingIndustriesGovernment Relations ServicesEnd of description.
