Youll take ownership of delivering high quality designs for roads, drainage, car parks, and shared paths, ensuring projects run smoothly from concept to completion. Your day will be a mix of guiding and mentoring your team, collaborating with stakeholders, reviewing designs, and keeping projects on time and on budget. If youre passionate about civil engineering, love problem-solving, and want to grow into a leadership role within a supportive, diverse team, this is an opportunity to truly make your mark.What youll be doingLeading and delivering civil design programs for roads, drainage, car parks, laneways and shared paths, ensuring strong customer service and compliance with Council standards.Supervising and mentoring the design team and consultants, driving collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement to meet project outcomes.Coordinating with internal teams and external authorities, managing approvals, and providing expert advice on civil design standards, legislation and best practice.Overseeing design development and documentation, including surveys, feasibility studies, CAD/12d modelling, cost estimates, and reviewing of design accuracy and compliance.Managing project performance and risks, administering contracts, monitoring budgets and timelines, and embedding safety, sustainability and innovation in all design processes.What you''ll need to succeedRelevant 4-year qualification in Civil Engineering and registration as a professional engineer under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.Technical expertise: Strong civil design experience across roads, drainage, car parks and paths; proficiency in AutoCAD and 12d Model; sound knowledge of design standards, legislation, and OHS requirements.Leadership and project management: Proven ability to supervise teams, manage design programs, budgets, contracts and deliver projects within time, cost and quality constraints.Stakeholder engagement and communication: Excellent negotiation and collaboration skills with experience working across internal teams, consultants, contractors and service authorities.Analytical and problemsolving skills: Ability to review complex designs, assess risks, drive improvements and apply safe systems and sustainability principles in infrastructure delivery.To be considered for this role applications should includeA maximum 2page cover letter which should outline your interest in the roleA current CV which includes key achievements & relevant qualificationsUncover more about this role in the Position Description attached below, or contact Sujan Bastakoti, Coordinator Engineering Design via **********@hobsonsbay.vic.gov.au or by calling 03 9932 1***.Applications will be accepted until 11:30pm on 21 November 2025.To ensure fairness and consistency for all applicants, we are unable to accept late submissions or submissions made via email.
