Direct message the job poster from ConnectYou MBA (Human Resources)- Recruitment Specialist - Substation Engineering & Design We are currently recruiting for a permanent Primary Design Manager in Sydney, NSW for our client, a well-established and growing organisation in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead design efforts for transformative, large-scale projects in the power transmission and distribution industry, focusing specifically on primary electrical systems. Responsibilities: Oversee the design of multi-billion-dollar projects in the power, transmission, and distribution sectors, particularly in primary electrical systems design. Ensure designs meet client requirements, industry standards, and project timelines. Provide overall direction to design teams working on primary electrical systems such as substations, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and high-voltage equipment. Ensure all designs are optimized for cost, safety, and functionality. Act as the main liaison with the client, managing expectations and ensuring alignment on substation design requirements and project deliverables. Lead and coordinate a team of engineers, setting clear objectives and fostering a collaborative work environment to achieve project milestones. Develop and review design drawings, schematics, and technical documentation for substation components and overall layouts. Mentor and support junior engineers and design team members, fostering skill development and promoting best practices. Required Experience: Experience managing the design process for large-scale, complex infrastructure projects, including coordinating design teams focused on primary electrical systems. While the role is predominantly focused on oversight, some hands-on experience in primary electrical design and problem-solving is necessary, particularly in addressing critical issues that arise during the project lifecycle. Proven expertise in industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to substation design. Demonstrated success in managing client relationships and aligning technical deliverables with project timelines and quality standards. Strong design management skills, with experience guiding diverse engineering teams to achieve complex project goals. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to developing effective and compliant design solutions.
