We are a growing Indian grocery retail business operating multiple stores, offering a wide range of Indian, South Asian and multicultural grocery products. We are seeking an experienced Retail Buyer to manage product selection, purchasing, supplier coordination and stock planning across our stores. Key Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Monitoring sales data, stock movement and customer demand across multiple Indian grocery stores Selecting and purchasing Indian, South Asian and multicultural grocery products for resale Sourcing products such as spices, lentils, rice, flours, snacks, frozen foods, sweets, beverages, religious items, household products and seasonal festival items Negotiating prices, purchase terms, delivery schedules and promotional arrangements with local wholesalers, importers and suppliers Reviewing supplier catalogues, product samples, price lists and market availability to determine suitable product ranges Planning stock purchases based on seasonal demand, festivals, customer preferences and budget requirements Identifying consumer trends in Indian and multicultural grocery products Coordinating with store managers regarding stock requirements, product performance and customer feedback Assisting with pricing, promotional campaigns, product placement and display strategies Managing stock availability and helping reduce overstocking, understocking, expiry issues and wastage Maintaining purchasing records, supplier information, stock reports and buying documentation Liaising with management regarding long-term product range planning, supplier strategy and sales promotions Skills and Experience Required The ideal candidate will have: Relevant qualification in retail, business, supply chain, merchandising or a related field; or At least 1 year of relevant experience in retail buying, grocery purchasing, merchandising or procurement Knowledge of Indian, South Asian and multicultural grocery products Understanding of seasonal and festival-based demand, including Diwali, Holi, Vaisakhi, Eid, Raksha Bandhan and other major cultural events Ability to analyse sales data, stock reports and customer buying trends Strong negotiation and supplier communication skills Good organisational, planning and record-keeping skills Ability to work with suppliers, store managers and business owners Understanding of pricing, promotions, stock control and product range planning in a grocery retail environment About You You will be commercially minded, detail-oriented and familiar with Indian grocery products and customer preferences. You will be able to make purchasing decisions that support product availability, sales growth, customer satisfaction and efficient stock management across our Indian grocery stores.
