Job Description

Kennedys is looking an Associate to join our General Insurance practice in Sydney. The successful applicant(s) will work across 2-3 Partners & seniors on a range of complex general insurance & litigation matters, involving coverage, financial lines, D&O and PI defence. There may also be scope to work on commodities and multi-party Supreme court litigation. The role will involve the day to day handling and management of high value coverage disputes for professional institutions, financial institutions, corporate service providers, directors and officers (D&O), as well as offering clear written advice to our clients. The role will also have a focus on the defence of professional liability claims, monitoring claims in other jurisdictions, arbitrations and subrogated recoveries. Team The team in Sydney have extensive experience across multiple lines of insurance work, with a particular depth of expertise in professional indemnity, financial institutions, directors'' and officers'' (D&O), medical malpractice, public and product liability, property and construction, energy, cyber, marine, transport and employment. Clients Domestic and international insurers and reinsurers Underwriters Lloyds syndicates Global composites Captive insurance companies Self-insured PLCs. Cases High value coverage disputes for financial institutions Directors and Officers insurance High value professional liability claims Subrogated recoveries on behalf of insurers International arbitrations Required experience 2-4 years'' of defendant insurance experience, from a reputable insurance team/firm* Ability to run with matters autonomously with limited supervision Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Methodical and organised approach to file management Ability to manage own time, excellent organisation skills and attention to detail High level of professionalism and integrity; displaying the highest standard of professional ethics.
